After a night of ice, sleet, and frozen rain, school was still a go.  The roads were clear, but the sidewalks were littered with broken tree limbs and frozen tree branches.  At approximately 7:25 A.M. as many students were just arriving, the power went down.  Because of the cloud cover, the school was in darkness.  The backup generator did not work, and the students were escorted to the cafeteria.

By 8:00 A.M. the power was still not working.  The sixth-grade students were moved to the gym, the seventh-grade students stayed in the cafeteria, and the eighth graders went to the SBDM room.

At approximately 8:30 A.M. hallways were somewhat lit by natural light.  Students were sent to their homeroom classes.

As the day wore on, the backup generator finally kicked into service. At 9:50 A.M. Students moved to their 3rd Period classes until 4th Period. At the beginning of 4th Period, the power was restored.  And the sixth grade students chanted, “No More Lights, No More Lights!”

The faculty was told there would be lunch.  Dr. Guelle and Dr. Dempsey reached out and purchased lunch for everyone.  Students were offered Jets Pizza, Marco’s Pizza, Skyline Coneys, and Jerzey Mikes Sub Sandwiches.  The cafeteria ladies did a remarkable job of serving the food and keeping the lines moving.

The students, faculty and staff settled into their regular 5th and 6th periods.
